How to Change Nameservers on Network Solutions
This guide explains how to point your domain to TAPP Network’s hosting environment (or another provider) by updating your nameservers.
Important: Changing nameservers will point your domain traffic to a new destination. This affects your website and email. Ensure you have the correct nameservers provided by the TAPP Network team before proceeding.
Prerequisites
-
You must be logged into your Network Solutions account.
-
You need the target nameservers provided by TAPP Network (e.g.,
ns1.example.com,ns2.example.com).
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Log in to Network Solutions:
-
Go to www.networksolutions.com and click Log In/My Account at the top right.
-
Enter your credentials.
-
-
Access Domain Management:
-
Once logged in, look for the My Domain Names section on the main dashboard.
-
Click the Manage button next to the domain name you wish to update.
-
Note: If you have multiple domains, you may need to select the checkbox next to the specific domain first.
-
-
Navigate to Nameserver Settings:
-
In the domain details page, look for a section titled Nameservers (sometimes labeled Advanced Tools or DNS).
-
Click Change Where It Points or Manage Nameservers.
-
-
Enter Custom Nameservers:
-
Select the option for Custom Nameservers (do not select "Network Solutions Nameservers").
-
Enter the nameservers provided by TAPP Network into the fields (e.g., Name Server 1, Name Server 2).
-
If you need to add more than two, look for an "Add More" link.
-
-
Save Changes:
-
Click Move Nameservers or Save Changes to confirm.
-
You may be asked to confirm that you understand this will change where your website points. Confirm to proceed.
-
Important Notes on Propagation
-
Wait Time: Nameserver changes are not instant. It can take 24 to 48 hours for the changes to propagate across the internet globally. During this time, some users may still see your old site while others see the new one.
-
Email Disruption: If your email is hosted with Network Solutions, changing nameservers may stop your email from working unless specific MX records are set up on the new server. Please confirm with the TAPP Network team if you are unsure about your email configuration.
